Your greens and fairways
Surrounded by tall oak trees, and bathed in peace and quiet, Fota Island Resort provides the perfect backdrop for the perfect game. Originally designed in 1993 by Irish Ryder Cup star Christy O’Connor Jr. and twice English Amateur Champion Peter McEvoy, before being redesigned in 2000 by golf architect Jeff Howes, it comes as no surprise that Fota Island Resort has been a three-time host to the Irish Open with all three courses (Deerpark, Belvelly and Barryscourt) maintained to the very highest standard all year around.
Playable, fair, with strong holes all the way through, some of the signature holes on the three courses are the stunning signature 18th at the Deerpark, and the opening holes at Belvelly, with their lakes and trees, which are tricky and picturesque in equal measure. The 8th at Barryscourt hits over an old quarry to an interestingly angled green, another golfers talk about, often ruefully!
Fota Island Resort boasts three championship standard golf course configurations across 27 holes - the original Deerpark (Par 71), Belvelly (Par 72) and Barryscourt (Par 73). The championship Cork golf course was proud host to the 2001, 2002 and 2014 Irish Open. In 2011 & 2012, the Resort also hosted the PGA Europro Audi Cork Irish Masters.
Play through the gorgeous woodlands and vistas across the traditional yet challenging Deerpark course. The Deerpark course with its receptive greens and strategic bunkering, impresses even the most experienced professionals. The Deerpark – Par 71, 6,488 yards
This course incorporates some unique and exciting features intended to challenge even the most seasoned golfer, whilst remaining perfectly loyal to the traditional style, values, and playability that characterise golf at Fota Island Resort as a whole. The Belvelly – Par 72, 6,746 yards
This course offers a fantastic opportunity to produce a good score, making sure your putting game is challenged throughout your round. What’s more, those players who possess an accurate tee-shot will be rewarded by the 8th hole on this course. The Barryscourt – Par 73, 6,958 yards
