Fota Island Resort was proud to host the 2014 Irish Open for the first time in 12 years, as well as this The Resort was proud to be named an Official Sponsor for the championship. The Irish Open was last played at the Cork Golf Club in Fota Island in 2002 when Denmark's Søren Hansen took the title at Fota Island.
The Resort also hosted the Championship in 2001, when Colin Montgomerie won the last of his three Irish Opens. The 2014 Irish Open Champion was awarded to Finland's Mikko Ilonen who celebrated his 300th European Tour event 13 under par. Watch as Ilonen secures his win over all other players for the 2014 Open.
