Golfers Guide to Ireland 2012 Awards
Fota Island Resort wins Best Hotel Award 2012
To mark the 21st. year of the Golfers Guide to Ireland, publishers Portside Publications inaugurated an awards programme for its many golf facility supporters. The Awards recognise leadership roles played by Irish Golf Clubs and associated golf interests on the whole island of Ireland. Best overall entrants were Killarney Golf & Fishing Club for parkland and Royal Co. Down for Links. Fota Island Resort received the Best Hotel award for 2012. The award winners represent a virtual whos' who of who and what is best in Irish golf. At last night's (January 24th, 2012) function in O’Connell’s Restaurant, Donnybrook, Dublin, Minister of State for Transport, Tourism & Sport Michael Ring TD presented awards under various category headings from all Ireland to provincial links and parklands golf, from golf resorts to hotels specialising in golf, and golf club secretaries and managers. Each of the award winners received aunique Graham Knuttle commissioned ceramic wall plaque crafted by Tipperary Crystal. All of the awards were won on the basis of an all Ireland poll undertaken from within thegolf and golf related community.

Portside Publications is an Irish publishing company operating in the tourism sector for over 21 years. Its Golfers Guide to Ireland has enjoyed uninterrupted annual publication eachyear making it Ireland's longest established golf guide. 50,000 copies have been printed this year and following its launch at last night's Award presentation the Guide will distribute andbe available free of charge to every golf club in Ireland, with on line versions distributed togolf clubs in Japan, Sweden, the UK and North America. The Golfers Guide to Ireland holds associate partnership status with the International Association of Golf Tour Operators, and is recommended by the Irish Golf Tour Operators Association. In addition Portside Publications provides tee time reservation services throughout Europe and North Americathrough the Golf hub on line facility.
